I collected these recipes and put
them online for a few different purposes. First of all, I travel
a lot and this way I don't have to bring all of my notebooks and
cookbooks with me. I also always know where my latest version of
a recipe is. It makes it easier to share my recipes. I'm
also trying to teach other grad students how to cook and most of these
recipes are relatively simple. Another, more devious motivation
is to hook my non-American friends on American cooking. I'm also
trying to promote traditional American cooking and show people that
American cuisine does go beyond hamburgers and french fries.
These are family recipes, recipes I made up myself, recipes I changed
from their original form, and a few I got out of books when the recipe
was either perfect or something I make rarely so didn't have notes on
what I'd done the last time. (As I change recipes, my favorite
version will be put up here.) I cited sources, except for a few
I got from my Mom which I didn't have time to add citations to.
This is intended for my family and friends. There are
typos. I mix unit systems sometimes so Americans may need to
look at the unit conversion page.
