Scottish shortbread
1 cup sugar
1 pound butter
1 teaspoon water
4 cups flour
2 teaspoons almond extract
Add water to sugar. Add butter
and mix well with your hands. Add flour and mix well with your hands.
Add almond extract. Pat evenly into large cookie sheet with sides.
Lightly prick all over with fork. Bake at 360 to 380 degrees for
about 20 minutes until it begins to turn golden. Let cool a few
minutes, and cut into small squares. Cool thoroughly before removing
from the pan
